Half Way... #3

As self professed family historian... I promised myself when Macho was born that I would do the same level of scrapworthy documenting for him and each and every child that God would bless us with thereafter. That I would remain committed to this regardless of life and how busy it may become. (Go ahead, you can laugh at me - I was young and oblivious.)

I'm eating those very words.

A few weeks ago I purchased an American Crafts 8x8 album to document this pregnancy - just as I have for the last two. Big surprise - I have yet to create anything inside. Now, I have slipped a few things inside the page protectors within it - in anticipation of starting. Hey - at least I know where the crap is, right?

Right.

But, alas - it hit me at my 20 week mark - I don't even have a single photo of this bump. So sad.

In a panic to have some shred of pregnancy evidence - I asked my "expertly trainied" live-in photography assistant for his help (yes, Clark was handed the camera). It seemed an opportune moment, for indeed I was wearing a shirt without any small-fry-caused stains or blemishes as of yet that day.

Now... up next... to print it out and stuff it in one of those empty plastic sleeves - and tell myself I'm still on track.

Right.

(On an up note... thank goodness I've had my hair cut since this photo was taken. YIKES!)

Another...

On Tuesday, I had my first ever parent/teacher conference at the kid's school. Boy, if THAT didn't make me feel all grown up. Sheesh. Am I old enough to be doing this already? Sure doesn't feel like it based on my maturity level. Ha!

Luckily - I got glowing reviews for both - so I left feeling pretty dang good about the job that Clark and I are doing at home. What a relief. As you all know - there's really no handbook for parenting. Thank goodness we aren't screwing up too badly.

When I got home, I only had an hour until pickup. Rather than try and get elbow deep in a work project I couldn't finish - I went to my scrap table where these curiously cut xeroxed $1 bills were laying in a pile.

Their story beckoning...

The story reads...

"A few days ago, Macho saw me putting some cash into the safe. He asked what I was doing so I explained that Mommy has a piggy bank too. Then, I asked him to guess what I am saving for. After he guessed a few small things - I told him... I'm saving for a trip to Disney for all of us. He squeeled! (we have never been)

Then, today I picked him up from school and he immediately stuffed this wad of photocopied $1 bills in my hand and said, "Here mom. These are for you. I made them at school. They are for Disney." Bless his sweet little heart.  - Feb 26, 2013

I'm picking it up again. The past few weeks. I'm trying to get better at pacing myself with work so that I have a little extra time to pickup my "happy place" hobby again. It's been nice, and therapeutic.

On Sunday I whipped together a quick layout. I thought I'd share.

Macho had his first ever sleepover on Friday night. Yes, we are dipping our toes, ever so tentatively into that next phase of childhood. I was fully prepared for the 11:30pm pickup call... but it never came. I got a couple text updates and one pic from the mamma/friend of mine who was brave enough to take Macho along with her twin boys. She is the most level-headed mom I know... so good with managing the crazy. And, it was her boys first ever sleepover too - so we all went there together.

It was an event worth documenting. :)

Now it's our turn to host.
