Alright now... all of you just calm down.
It's not at all what you think. I just thought I'd try getting your attention by using a King's Of Leon song title as the title for my "recapping the concert post" - that's aaalllll. Sheesh. Relax.
I did get your attention though, didn't I? He... he... he...
Onto business...
It was the concert that almost wasn't. I purchased tickets to see this with my brother and sister in law months ago... in another state altogether. Then, not 10 days before the show, I received an email that the venue had been double booked and Kings Of Leon were out. Refund is on the way.
NOOOOOOO!
So, I scrambled... What other venue could they possibly be playing within the same 3.5 hour radius? And - this late in the tour - would there be decent seats available? It seemed a dark cloud was hanging out over my head.
Luckily - the Ticketmaster Gods were smiling on me... for magically, one tiny row four rows back stage left was open with filled seats for days all around it. Must be my birthday. I seized the moment with my plastic in hand and we were back in business baby.
And Saturday, Clark and I went on a whirlwind adventure. Driving 3.5 hours, meeting some friends for a wonderful meal, catching Kings of Leon just as they came on stage (after The Whigs and The Black Keys) and then trekking back home so we could be in the house when Macho woke up... albeit at 3:30 AM.
And it was worth it.
Not that my pictures will accurately illustrate this.
I'll begin with a shot of Clark, myself and our two friends outside the restaurant as we were leaving, as taken by the hostess with my camera.

Apparently, even being on "Auto" mode doesn't matter much when handing off your camera to a total stranger.
How cute are our friends, by the way? They are getting married on October 16.
Then we were off to the concert venue. We parked the car ten miles away even with our "VIP Pass" that I paid for... We were fashionably late, of course. After hoofing it to the gate, naturally, the lady was like,
"I need to check your purse."
I'm polite and compliant.
She follows with, "Honey, we can't let you in with that camera. Only little point and shoots allowed. No deluxe models."
Aw heck. It's the only camera I own!
"You can check it at that booth over there."
Huh? Just give it over to a total stranger? And they are gonna give me an IOU for it? Uh-uh... no way.
So Clark and I turn and begin heading back to Egypt where the car is parked to put it in the trunk. As I simultaneously give the lady the "stink eye" for making me and my belly waddle all that way again.
But not before CK clicks this oh-so-fine shot of me outside the gate.

After our parking lot odyssey, we were back at the gate... resigned to taking pix with Clark's Blackberry the rest of the evening.
Yes... dear friends - these are some REAL gems.
And we weren't even drinking!!!!
Love drunk, is all I can say. It was our first real "date" in months!

Anyhow... even though our pictures clearly stink... the boys were awesome. They totally delivered. I sang, and waved my hands, and did all the idiotic things I promised myself I would. The guys even played a few tracks from their upcoming album, Come Around Sundown, (including the song/video you'll see if you click the link) scheduled to drop in October. It was cool being some of the first people to hear them live. I WILL be purchasing.
Speaking of purchasing. CK and I scoped the merchandise tent. A few interesting tees to choose from. However, I balked at the $40 price tag. I felt I could do better online.
And I did - I ordered the same thing yesterday for $19.95. Boo yah.
And despite the struggle to stay awake and keep Clark's eyes open on the way home in the wee hours of morning - and the feeling all day Sunday that I was underwater and totally a zombie - it was utterly and completely worth it.
