Ok - had to share this.
It's the coolest little gadget. It came in the mail while I was on va-ca.
Please ignore the chipped nail polish. Making sandcastles did a number on my mani/pedi.
Anyway - It's called Square.
It's an App + a little plug-in doo-hickey that turns your iPhone or iPad into a point of sale credit card swiping machine.
Now... when I'm out on a shoot and need to collect my sitting fees - or if I should decide to sell prints in person - I can swipe a client's credit card weherever the heck I am. There's no contract, no fee's other than the 2.75% off the top, and the loot gets deposited directly into my bank account. I get all "squared up" with this little thing.
Actually - I can also manually input someone's CC info - but the % is much higher without the actual card present - so I'd rather avoid that and take a check instead...
I was introduced to this by a client/friend/parent of one of Macho's classmates the week before we left for vacation... Seriously - we were at a fun Friday afternoon school function mingling around and he was all..."yeah- check out this app... it would be cool for your business"
I downloaded the App right then and there on the playground and about 5 days later - I got the hardware in the mail.
Now I'm up and running - and pretty much think this is the slickest thing ever.
MAN... wish I would've had this during my art show days! I used the ol' fashioned knuckle buster credit card impression thingy for YEARS.... sheesh.
This is sooooo dope, right?
totally cool! makes me want to have something to sell!
