When was the last time you read a book that totally rocked you? I mean - as Twi-hard as I am - the book I just read just shook me in a way that was brutal and glorious all at the same time. Bella and Edward are great and all - but not like this...
Tuesday night I got in bed next to Clark with my itty bitty book light and the next thing I knew it was 3:30am and I was weeping.
I wept.
And then I got out of bed and went into Macho's bed and spooned with him till morning. So what does that tell ya?
I'm hesitant to tell you too much about the actual plot.... I'd rather you pick it up and read it without expectation... just recommendation. All I'll say is - it's a powerful retelling of the Book of Hosea.
It's not a new book. Came out in 1997. And has sold over 1 million copies. The cover and title make you think it's some trashy romance read... but it's not.
It's a love story, yes - but the most profound and greatest of all love stories. A story of betrayal, redemption, forgiveness, friendship, heartache, hatred, loyalty, obedience and love.
Amazing read. Thank you Casie for sending it to me. What a Sister in Christ you are and have always been to me! Love you!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go order like 10 copies from Amazon to give out!
OH! I almost forgot!
Love this book so much I wanna give a copy to one of you too!
Leave a comment below and I'll pick a winner this weekend sometime.
"Come, let us return to the Lord;
for he has torn, that he may heal us;
he has stricken, and he will bind us up."
HOSEA 6:1

wow you have spiked my interest! we just came back from a week at myrtle beach and i missed my regular spring break read...that is about the only time i actually read anymore...
its an amazing talent of an author to have that kind of effect on the person reading it!!

you KNOW I love a good book! And lately I've been suffering through what I think are great reads and I'm just forcing myself to get through them (especially in light of all that has happened this month!)
I do have one I'm going to send you... so maybe we could trade?!
Love you!

I love a good read Katie, can't wait to hear :) I will also recommend one to you and your readers...called 'Winters Garden'. I did the same thing, went to bed beside my Hubby and next thing I knew I was in the bathroom SOBBING @ 4am. I wanted to wake up all my kiddos, too. Very emotional read.

You know me, LOVE a good book. This is a new one for me though, so if I don't win the prize I'll certainly be running to our local library to pick it up! Have you been to the library lately, by the way? Totally different experience than it was when we were little. You can go online, start a list of books you want, and they send you an email when it's ready for you to pick up! No more searching through the shelves. And... if you don't get through it in 3 weeks you can renew online as well. Life changing (and wallet saving) for a big reader like me.
A few favorites of mine lately are:
The Hunger Games- (like Twilight it's teen fiction, but also like Twilight, totally addictive).
Saving Cee Cee Honeycut- a great, lighthearted summer novel.
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet- Loved it!

I love to read. I really like the Anita Shreve novels. I love it when a book can make you have feel those emotions. I cry easily though. I sobbed in a papisian chair from Pier One when I read The Notebook. Then, I couldn't get out of the chair :)
Ha, ha.

You are correct about the cover, but at least it wasn't Fabio! When I saw it on your dresser, I was thinking more along the lines of Kathleen Woodwiss or Philippa Gregory novels.

Yay! I love a good book recommendation - just checked it out on Amazon, and it made me think of this: Through a Glass Darkly, by Karleen Koen. Easily in my top 10 books of all time.

You have my curiosity as well. I hadn't picked up a book (other than my kids') in years until last summer...found the entire "Left Behind Series" at a yardsale for a couple of bucks and was instantly hooked.
