Recently we've been transitioning Macho into his "big boy room." With my bump growing at a seemingly colossal rate, his days in that crib were numbered anyway.
In order for him to get excited about sleeping in the guest room - or Mimi's room as he knows it - some serious changes were in order. We painted - removed some furniture - purchased a new comforter and moved some familiar items in from the nursery (rug and a large art piece).
The room isn't too "themey"... but I am giving a nod to north shore Hawaii by having some subtle surfing accents in there.
We went to the beach this weekend and I went to a few local board shops inquiring about a broken down, destined for the surfboard graveyard relic that I could salvage for Macho's room.
As luck would have it - I made off with this one. The guy told me that new it cost about $800 - but I was scoring it for a whopping $40.
Looks pretty decent right? Wrong. Check out the back...
I really feel sorry for the guy who broke this thing. Especially, if he did spend that much loot on it. Guaranteed the board shop only gave him like $20 for it. Ouch. But, I don't give a hoot what the back looks like... My plan is to mount it to the wall.
You know what they say... One dude's trash...
And I've got big plans for this guy. I'm not really diggin' on the "wedgewood grey" color on the front - so I'm planning a nice paint job for it and I'll decorate it with some of these....
And yes... I know it's cliche to put Roxy stickers on a board for a boy... But not when that boy is 2 and his dog's name is Roxy... So all y'all just hush up.
I'm really not sure yet how I'm gonna work them in. I may only use 1 or 2. We'll see. I plan to finish it off with some bar-top resin to put a nice, thick glass-like glaze on the whole thing once I'm done painting and primping.
Should be pretty...
Rad.
Er... knarly?
How bout... Dope?
Boss.
Nevermind.
Stay tuned.

In college we took an old surfboard of mine and turned it into a nice little end table! It's devastating to spend that much money on your board and then in one wave... one day ruin it beyond repair! BUT they make awesome art and conversation starters!!!
